長谷川さんの方法でうまくいくと思います。
私の場合、ことし10月にM/BをGigaByte社のGA8SIMLH-Pにしたので
今SiS651を使っているのですが、
http://driver.sis.com/linux/650/sis_drv.o-410 を sis_drv.o に改名して
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/sis_drv.o として置くだけで動作しました。
XFree86 は woody の "xserver-xfree86" パッケージそのままです(4.1.0)。

ちなみに /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 では以下のような設定にしています。
